Getting More Than You Gave

That saying is so true when it comes to the shawl swap that Dyann proposed many months ago. I had seen some of her previous work and knew that I would be getting a great shawl. And did I ever!!

The arrangement was to swap yarn and the knitter would choose the pattern. The yarn owner would receive a finished shawl. She sent suri alpaca in beautiful shades of grey, blue, and purple. I sent a silk/wool blend hand dyed in my favorite color (Grand Traverse) by my LYS. Not only did I get an absolutely beautiful shawl, she sent along some of her wonderful handmade clay mugs with tea to drink.

Dyann, you did a fabulous job - the knitting, the pattern choice, the blocking, all of it! It has already seen action about town. Thank you so much for suggesting this.
Me: “Why don’t we go out for dinner?”
Hubby: “I suppose so. But don’t think that I don’t know the reason why.”
Me: “???”
Hubby: “You’re wanting to show off the shawl. Dinner is just an excuse.”
He knows me so well. :)
Lovely shawl - what a great idea for a swap, choosing the yarn and the other person choosing the pattern.
So would it work if I sent yarn and someone knit me a shawl? Do I have to knit one in return? DO I?
Wow - that is one gorgeous shawl (and the colour is divine!)
The shawl is gorgeous! I think I need to cast on a new shawl for myself soon.
Wow that is just gorgeous, I’d rope the hub in to going out to dinner to show it off too! The mugs are really cool! I heart pottery of any kind.
