I Haved Strayed

Why is that when you have a deadline, a must.get.it.finished.NOW project, a goal, everything else you are thinking of knitting shamelessly throws itself on your needles?
Suddenly I find myself casting on Schafer Anne yarn, an easy toe, increasing to 64 sts and starting a simple lace sock. A mere yarnover here, a decrease there. And the promise that the second sock will be as quiet in its demands as the first. I couldn’t help myself. The pattern is so simple - half a flower on the left sock and the other half on the right one, another flower on each leg.
So far the shawl has not noticed the extra-marital knitting. I hope that lasts. Losing half my stash in the breakup could be devastating.
If it makes you feel any better, that happens to me all the time. No wonder I don’t get anything finished. Too easily distracted I guess. And by the way, when you get the pattern written up for that pair of sock, may I be the first in line to test knit? It is awesome.
I agree, my knitting procrastination is out of control. I am contemplating foregoing swatching just to get a project on the needles instead of just thinking about it.
LOVE the socks……………Pattern?
My first thought (before reading about the side-by-side flower) was that you were making socks with bouncy squooshy hearts on so that every time you looked down at your toes you would *see* the love as well as feel it :>
(ps in the face of all the xmas gift purchasing / knitting / wrapping / posting, with a sick and miserable child in the bed, I cast on for socks. I’m with you on the procrastination front)
:P
Hey, those look great. And I’m the same way. The more deadlines I have, the more A.D.D. I become. Such is life.
