I have a cold.  Not a bad cold.  Not the knock you down for the count sort of cold.  No, I have the slightly there cold.  The I feel fine…almost…sort of cold.  The hang around for three five seven days and counting cold.  I hate this cold.  If I’m going to be sick, I want to be sick.  All the way.  Not this trick you into thinking you are better but really not cold that I currently have.  I don’t do well with this.  Can you tell?

I have a lot to blog about but I can’t seem to put a coherent post together.  I’ve tried several times in the past few days and failed horribly.  I’m blaming the cold.

Fortunately Sonya tagged me to list seven things about me.  Apparently coherence isn’t required only weird and random.  This I can do.

1) I watch Heroes, The Closer, CSI: Las Vegas, Dirty Jobs, and the Deadliest Catch regularly.  But if I miss an episode, I don’t really worry about it.  Except for Deadliest Catch.   I am absolutely fascinated with the work that those guys do.  I can’t not watch.

2) I have started my own business - a pattern publishing and distribution business.  I have only told about three people before now, because I am absolutely terrified that I am making a huge mistake.  And yet, it feels like the best decision I have made in a very long time.  It fits.  I look forward to coming home and working to get it up and running.  It also takes up a huge part of my time outside my day job.

3) Because of #2, I find myself daydreaming that the Easy button really could finish my projects.  A lot.

4)  Taco B*ell is my favorite fast food.  However, I only eat it on the weekends.  Monday through Friday any other fast food joint is fair game, but not Taco B*ell.  It just tastes better on a Saturday or Sunday.

5)  I love to cook.  I would give anything to have an herb garden.  However, the mere thought of a plant coming to reside at my house is enough to cause it to wilt and shrivel up.  Even a cactus cannot survive.

6) In college, I worked one summer as a customer service person for a local grocery store.  I quickly learned that winning the big lotto jackpots was a long shot by watching the “regulars” spend tens of dollars every week and never winning a dime.  But, I buy a ticket anytime that I get incredibly fed up with my day job.  Can’t win if you don’t play.

7) Every other weekend I bowl with my husband, my ultra competitive husband.  I, however, own a bowling ball with Eeyore on it that glows in a blacklight.  I could not care less about having a 90 average.  Definitely his yin to my yang.

If you’ve made it this far and are still reading, Tag! You’re it!

#2 - Good for you!!!!!! I know what you mean about feeling you’ve made a mistake…I still have the occasional panic attack over my business, but in the end it makes me very happy.

#4 - My guilty favorite is White Castles. Only after I’ve been drinking, though. Good thing there’s one within walking distance.

We miss you on Wednesday nights, hope you’re doing well!!!!

What fun. One of my cats did this meme over the weekend too. Yours is more interesting, but then, what can one expect from a cat?

    Hey Jae,
I was going to offer you a Germ Swap, but thinking about how to get the germs through Customs has made me reconsider. Instead, I wish you a lavender-oil massage, quantities of hot rum toddies, excellent entertainment options (middle-brow movies or books, high-brow would just be too frustrating and raise your temp), and a few skeins of the softest, most positive-vibe-inducing yarn to pat in your lap, and genie at your beck and call to do the housework.
    You like?

I’m totally into Deadliest Catch too…I can’t miss an episode ;o)

Hope you’re feeling better…I hate that kind of cold, which is not really a cold, but yet a cold anyway…grrrr

Jae- How can something that gives you so much pleasure be a mistake?

You didn’t tell us what you usually get from Taco Bell- I like those Gordita things without the guac!

  • Kim D. // Oct 8, 2007 at 11:08 am

So, are you going to tell us more about this pattern distribution business you’re working on?

As for Taco Bell - I am a double decker taco supreme with fiery sauce kind of gal.

Hope you get over that nasty little cold soon. Buggers. Good luck with the pattern business! I hope it goes very well for you. :-)

    Yay, you announced it.
I don’t think I ever told you, but back in 1990, when I picked up two kids and myself and moved to Traverse City, didn’t have a job there, didn’t know a soul, everyone thought I was crazy, but I KNEW it was the right thing for me to do … and I look at it as one of the Best Decisions I’ve made in my life.
I’m so glad you’re following your instincts on this. Wishing you “break a leg” good luck.

Next, did I ever tell you about seeing the empty cartons outside the T.B. In Traverse City? They read, and I Kid You Not, swear on the Bible, They read “Grade C _ still Edible”
    Last time I ever entered a T.B.
and last, I’m a great fan of Deadliest Catch too.
When you get time, I just put up some boat pics from Annapolis.

  • Marji // Oct 9, 2007 at 4:00 pm

PS, they were cartons that chicken had been shipped in. Grade C chicken, evidently

Hi, I just stumbled into your blog and see that you are using a bowling ball with Eeyore on it linking to our website. Thank you so much for giving us the credit.

I hope that your husband isn’t too competitive that it turns you off to bowling. :)

I try to get my wife out there every once in a while, but she is in the same boat. Her yang to my yin. P.S. she uses a bugs bunny bowling ball.
