August is here. How does that happen? Blink. April showers and May flowers. Blink. Blink. June flies by. Blink. July is over. Blink. I would try blinking less, but I can’t overcome the automatic response that my eyes insist upon.
I think time speeds up in direct proportion to an increase in the quantity of chaos, distraction, and disorder you have in your life. This is not helpful in my opinion. I would try to find a way to slow time down but I’m too busy with the chaos, distraction, and disorder.
I would show a progress shot of my knitting. However, I have only knit a few rows at a time on everything. Thousands of stitches have been created but the resulting progress is the same as a five year old who has pushed all her peas (carrots, beans, insert your favorite hated vegetable) around her plate to make it look like there are less than reality would like to suggest. On a side note, that never worked with my mother. Nor was the family dog any help because she didn’t like peas either.
I could talk about work. A lot has been happening of no lasting significance. It would be new to you (unless you also design car parts) and thus, perhaps, an interesting topic for your reading pleasure. But after eight plus hours a day, I would rather not spend any additional time thinking about it. It isn’t as exciting to me as, say, everything else.
I should probably go for random. Random and chaos go hand in hand.
Ailsa is making great progress on Pretty As A Peacock - part 2. The fact that she is still enjoying the process has taken some worry from my shoulders. Her speediness is also a bit scary. She is almost half done in less than two weeks while battling a few days with the flu. I suspect that she may have a third arm she isn’t telling anyone about.
I met Arleta and Carrie. This past weekend was a fiber festival near Charlevoix. I love meeting people I’ve met through blogging. Arleta and Carrie were no exception. Arleta even came bearing gifts - knit covered soap! It smells wonderful and her knitting is perfect. I have no pictures. Which is a shame, because I was able to see Arleta’s first lace shawl in person. It was beautiful! In my defense, I was very distracted by all the fiber. Fortunately, Arleta’s (or maybe it was Carrie’s) camera was present for blogging photos.
Speaking of fiber, I do not spin. I know how to spin. I choose not to spin. It’s about time management. Between blinking and knitting as if I have peas on my plate, I’m losing the battle with time. And I only have one fiber addiction. Two might be the final end of me. However, more than once I have caught myself on the verge of buying roving. Sometimes two rovings at once. If I said I had a thrummed mitten planned in my future, I might be able to justify on ounce or two. However, three pounds is a lot of thrumming. But, I have at last found a way to satisfy my roving addiction. I am trading knitting for spinning. My friend, who spins more yarn than she could ever knit, will spin yarn for both of us. In return, I will knit us shawls. It may be a well-crafted illusion that we are being efficient but we are okay with that.
Blink.

I understand that blink thing!
You beat me to the post. :) I will be putting up some pictures! I think Carrie already did. I am so glad we got to meet in real life, and that you like your soap sock!

It was really nice meeting you at the fiber festival! Oddly, I have no plan in mind for the yarn that I spin. I just like doing it - very relaxing. I totally get what you’re saying about time racing by, though. In a few years, I’m going to give up blinking all together, just get eye drops. And I’ll end with - Your work is beautiful!

I MUST knit that shawl — it is the most gorgeous thing I’ve EVER SEEN. I feel breathless and anxious all at the same time. PLEASE let me know when the pattern is available. Can I pay double to get it first? LOL!
