A Sixteen Mile Traffic Jam Will Not Deter Me

August 18th, 2007 · 8 Comments

A great weekend (at Stitches), a good week (of no problem work and knitting), and a perfect Friday evening (out with hubby and friends) has left me feeling like a shoe is about to drop.  Yeah,  it is probably this.  I need want to get to this store for a yarn browse.   Unforunately, it is located three blocks from Woodward.

So, while my dear husband reviews a local map and plots an absurdly out of the way a perfect alternative route for me, I’m going to enjoy my morning tea and catch up with you fine people.

Stitches was a wonderful time.  As I did last year, I roomed with Marji.  Every time I spend time with her, I walk away the better for it.  She is generous of her time and knowledge.  I also had the priveledge of being the first to see her fabulous smocked dress.  Pictures by no means do it justice.

I only took two classes this year - Mastering Yarn Substitution and Swatch Lab.   I was able to what I learned from both classes to use almost immediately.  Don’t you love it when a class enables that type of practical application?

18aug08-006.JPGOn the knitting front, the wing issue has been tamed.  A few helpful bits of advice from Marji and Lorraine and several reknits later, the left shoulder is finished.   On US 10.5 needles the right shoulder should be a quick knit.  Since I haven’t had a finished object in more than two months, I am really looking forward to this.  I really need to learn to be more focused and concentrate on knitting only one or two or even just four things at a time.  Choosing smaller projects would probably help, too.

18aug08-007.JPGNow my husband has just handed me a map with clearly labeled turn by turn instructions for a route that takes me almost 2 miles out of my way.  Not even a deliberately created traffic jam will keep me from my mission today.  Wish me luck!

Good luck! You are one intrepid shopper. My hubbo has gone to a volleyball tournament– in Ferndale no less– hopefully he’ll get back without wanting to pull his hair out.

Good luck! I don’t miss the dream cruise - we used to live right off of Woodward! We didn’t dare venture out the entire weekend…

Jae- I agree, Knitbloggers are a special breed.
I’m glad you’re making progress on your top- must have been Marji’s great fashion sense.

I know better than to stand in the way of a Knitter on a mission!

I cannot believe you met up with Jewel! I met that terrific lady at Stitches West last year! Small world, huh?

The top is looking great, Jae!

How was your trip to the other side of Woodward. Steve and I ventured over that way on Friday and even then it was packed with people and some of the main roads were blocked to thru traffic.

Glad you had a good time at Stitches! I really enjoy Lorraine’s blog and knitting, so I am envious that you got to talk with her in person. I hope your shopping went well.
