Other People’s Shawl

July 1st, 2007 · 11 Comments

Recently, Dyann asked me if I would like to swap shawls.  I replied of course! absolutely! heck yeah! i’m all for it!!! with a polite yes.  She sent me her yarn and I sent her mine.

Let me tell you - Dyann has fabulous taste in fiber. It is Suri Elegance in the Raku colorway.  This will be the first time Dyann has seen it.  She ordered and had it shipped directly to me.

Evidence of Dyann’s excellent yarn choosing abilitiesThe pattern is up to the knitter.  I’ve knitted a swatch and am using a US2 (2.75mm).  I was worried for awhile that the gauge was a little loose for the pattern.   However, it’s coming out just fine.  Wanna see?

clear as mud! And, I must confess, I’m still not purling.

What beautiful yarn! It looks very soft too. Looking forward to seeing the pattern stitches you chose!

That’s not a swatch! That’s a subtle means of torturing your faithful readers until they dive desperately into their stashes, searching wildly for something, _anything_, that could promise a glimpse of such lace potential…..

Gorgeous! I am wondering if anyone else does this no purling thing? I tried it out on a project not too long ago (on just that project) and wondered why it wasn’t something that was “just done”? Maybe it is something that entrelac lovers “just do” LOL

I really need to get that no purling thing down. I am refusing to start my Lady E until I can get it. Can you tell I’m a wee bit stubborn? ;)

Not many people would commit to a shawl swap. You two are special.

What a great idea. You’ve got lovely yarn to work with. Good job about the no purling.

That’s a cool idea, to swap projects!

Very pretty! No purling sounds like fun to me! Right now, I’m only working on my shawl, so no purling until the next chart.

Carrie and I are still talking about that fiber fest. Maybe we’ll be there and meet ya!

ok, I’m sooo confused. What is it that has you on a rampage against the poor defenseless purl stitch.

Do the purl stitches of the world have to band together and demand their rights? Are we fomenting discontent in the ranks of purl stitches everywhere and in danger of inciting a riot?

    What gives?

BTW, I’m seriously hoping you’ve filled out the form to show your Palawan at The Dinner on Saturday night. “designed by” maybe even a “pattern so to be available from”…
