I’ve been working almost exclusively on the peacock shawl this week. Although there is one project demanding my attention. Nagging me with a small voice in the back of my head.
I casted off the Joann Cardi the first days of March. But expecting it to stay off the needles was apparently like expecting all your children to permanently leave the comforts of your home and well-stocked fridge for their own less comfortable home and pizza leftovers stocked fridge.
I thought I was done. However, upon trying on the cardigan it became obvious that the sleeves are too short. A whopping 2 - 3 inches too short for full length sleeves. My mother gallantly tried to pretend that the design intent was 3/4 length sleeves, but they are 1-2 inches too long for that accidental design feature.
Only thing I can do is…

… cut the cuffs, pick up and knit down the additional length. My husband asked me if it was painful to use scissors on my knitting. Surprisingly, no. If anything it felt liberting. The worst that could happen was having to knit an entire set of sleeves and the odds seemed pretty slim for that.

I cut with gusto. Now to find the same enthusiasm for actually finishing this cardigan. again.

I understand the mechanics of it all, and can see how it works.
But I’m still too scared to cut my knitting ;)

You are very brave. I’m glad all went well. Mother’s Day is coming up, can that provide the enthusiasm?

Don’t let apathy win! Fight! Battle on through to the Glow of Virtuous Self-Sacrifice that awaits the final gifting!!
(and maybe bribe yourself a little along the way :> )

FO’s + scissors = visions of uncontrollable unravelling.
