5 things

February 10th, 2007 · 6 Comments

I don’t have Knit Michigan pics yet (they were misrouted - twice).  The three projects I’m working on still look the same, but bigger (thus making lousey blog fodder at the moment).  I’m going to distract you from the lack of blog fodder (probably unsuccessfully, but give me points for trying) with a meme. Many, many moons ago (ok, maybe only one and a half moons ago) Marji tagged me.  Now is a good time as any to actually do it.

Here’s the deal -

  1. Get tagged by someone.
  2. Write down 5 things that have never been revealed on your blog before
  3. Tag 5 others

Marji took care of item number 1. I suppose items number 2 and 3 are up to me.

Five things I’ve never revealed on my blog, hmmmm…. Doesn’t the word reveal imply that I am about to impart some shocking secret or profound hidden wisdom.  There’s a lot of pressure in the word reveal.  To relieve some of the weight from my shoulders, I am stating here and now - I have no secrets worthy of Oprah or Dateline and no profound wisdom that is worth Secret Service like protection.  Sorry to disappoint y’all.

I can tell you that when I was two or maybe three, I put a pea in my nose.  Apparently I was so good at putting the pea in my nose that it required hospital intervention to coax the vegetable back out.  In the interest of complete disclosure, I did not learn my lesson with the pea.  I distinctly recall, a short time later, Mom stopping me from a near second disaster as I was trying to put corn or something in my ear.

HDI used to own a motorcycle.  A customized Harley Davidson to be exact. Maybe this is a teensy shocking to some, but still not worth any TV coverage.  I eventually sold it to a man in Iowa on Ebay.

I have an accent.  Wait, there’s more.  I am routinely accused of having an east coast accent.  Boston, Maryland, Maine, Vermont….  Considering I’ve never lived outside the midwest and my total tourist time in the east accounts for less than a month, I find this odd.  However, this accent quiz confirms they are right.

The only theory I can offer is that I was raised in Indiana by an english teacher.  She obviously could not have kids that spoke poor grammer and diction.  It would reflect poorly on her ability as a teacher.  However, she had a huge task ahead of her since the local dialect insisted that ink pens were pins and we would warsh our clothes.  Therefore, east coast accents are what hoosiers would sound like if they were raised by my mom.

I have wanderlust.  Since leaving for college I moved atleast once a year until I bought my home.  The distance might have been twenty feet across the hall, the next county or the next state, but a change of scenery was achieved.  Less than a month after purchasing my home, I was still looking for a new place to move.  The practical side of me has kept me from selling my home.  The wanderlust now manifests itself in constant rearrangement of furniture, wall color, and decoration.  This is a constant source of humor and irritation to my husband.

I have an interest in genealogy.  Living in a metro area, I am asked atleast once a year what is my family origin.   I answer that I am American.  My entire family tree has lived in the United States since 1865 and a significant portion arrived in the late 1700’s.   I think any ties to England were probably severed with the Declaration of Independence.  Thereby leaving me without any country to claim but the one I’m living in.

I have to tag five people now.  If you made it this far through the post consider yourself tagged.  Only the first five people though.  I don’t want to be accused of breaking the rules.

Wow another knitter who is also a biker. I am a biker too, and I still have my bike. What made you sell yours, and do you think you will ever get another one. My husband and I frequent Royal Oak on Wednesdays in the summer, which is really going to conflict with knitting at the Bou.

I just started my blog, so posting 5 things I have never revealed will be pretty easy.

I guess I didn’t realize you had an accent either?

I’m impressed that you’d actually sell a harley on ebay. You’re gutsy.

Love the bike! Isn’t it amazing what you can sell on Ebay?
