I have a confession. I love to block my knitting. There is something immensely satisfying in neat rows of pins. I revel in the knowledge that I can tame an unruly rolled up stockinette piece into a graceful flat garment.
In this case, it is a small reward for miles inches of stockinette. The garter stitch border does alot for the sweater. (The indoor lighting - not so much.) However, the fancy edge does little to relieve the bordom of knit a row, purl a row, knit a row, ZZZzzzzzz, head bob, … Huh? wha? Oh, yeah… pick up dropped stitch caused by snoring and head bob, purl a row, knit a row, and repeat from beginning.
I have no one to blame but myself. Instead of finishing the back piece first, I knit the right front. At the time, it seemed perfectly logical and a sane thing to do. I’m making this sweater up as I go. I’d rather rip out a quarter of a sweater than half. Plus, the front has most of the math what with the arm shaping, neck line, and bust darts.   I had to knit the left front next so I would remember how the math had worked. I don’t think coutre’ designers from Paris could pull off mismatched bust darts, never mind lil’ole me.Â
I forgot to consider that with the math completed and half a sweater’s worth of stockinette to finish, I have taken all the challenge and mystery out of the project. Challenge and mystery being among the top reasons I knit a project.Â
I’m going to live in denial while I continue knitting the back. In my world, cardigan is another word for vest. Sleeves are optional.

I know the zzzzz stockinette feeling. However, I did order yarn and a pattern for a st st sweater this weekend. I rationalized that I wouldn’t get bored because 1)it has raglan sleeves, and I haven’t done that before, 2) ditto with the v-neck, 3)it’s bulky weight yarn, 4)the yarn is the same shade of pink as my wedding dress was–a favorite color. Oh, and I have beads to make a necklace to fit in the v-neck opening. I am hoping all that will alleviate the zzz’s. Good luck on finishing your sweater!
