Houston, I Think We Have A Problem

July 9th, 2006 · 10 Comments

Ailsa has told me the first clue of the Mystery stole is a beautiful knit. The chart certainly indicates that. But, the overwhelming number of WIPs is beginning to nag at me. If I had a volume control on the little voice in my head, I would turn it to mute and cast on for the stole immediately. Alas, I don’t. So, I awoke this morning full of energy to finish something.

It’s made from GGH Safari, 78% Linen & 22% Nylon. It hasn’t been blocked yet. Why do I think the sleeves are going to reach my knees?

The sweater looks great. I see from your wip list that this is two years in the making. Looks like a big congratulations is in order!

I’ve never made a sweater so I don’t know anything about blocking but it looks really good!

    Thank you Jae!
now, I don’t think you have to worry about blocking, as a linen and nylon yarn shouldn’t ‘grow’ at all.
however, looks like you still have a problem. good thing you are an adventurous knitter. I’d strongly consider running a life line through the knitting just above the cuff patterning, then cutting the sleeve there. unravel part of the sleeve, then graft the two together. would be a bit of a bated breath kind of endeavor, but you can do it. Marina did an awesome tutorial on the technique about a month ago. or else you could just cut the sleeves off and reknit new cuffs, top down style.

I think the sweater looks lovely and as someone with incredibly out of proportion to body ratio arms, I think it’s perfect. Although Marji’s suggestion is a good one.

Doesn’t it feel good to finish something though, and then immediately cast on 3 new projects. Wait, that sounds more like me than you.

Great choice on the yarn for Marji.
