Currently I have 9 projects on needles, 5 in the wings, and 8 that require finishing. So, my loving husband is, of course, questioning the rationale of starting an online knitting journal. “Wouldn’t that take away valuable time that could be devoted to the completion creation of knitted things?”
I told him how this journal would open up possible connections to all sorts of interesting people and ideas. There are so many knit-minded folk all over the globe that use computers on a regular basis. Really cool, imaginative, computer using, knit-minded folk!
I described how writing about my knitting would inspire me. Writing is a creative process, just like crafting a knitted sweater. Debating the right yarn choice for that great cabled sweater pattern, deciding if I should start a lace shawl or thick wool scarf, or trying out that new technique I just learned on my next big project.
I explained how a journal would keep me honest. Those poor 8 projects languishing away, waiting for the final finishing touches that would bring them to completion, would now demand my attention. After all, I’ve just made it public that I have more projects needing blocking, felting, seaming… than I have projects on needles.
I don’t think I convinced him. And he wants the couch nightstand coffee table freed from my UFOs.
